Hollywood actor and Christian Alan Ritchson, best l known for his lead and title character in the popular Amazon series "Reacher," announced that he and his wife, Catherine, are ending their marriage. The two had been married for 20 years.

“After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way. We grew up together,” Richtson stated in a post on Instagram on Saturday.

“We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world. Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us- or the love and respect we will always share.

“The best gift we can give one another — and our boys — right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be. We also want to give each other room to grow into the people we are becoming.”

“Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in. We hope, especially for the sake of our boys, that you will allow our family to move through this chapter with privacy and compassion. Thank you for supporting us as we continue making the health and happiness of our family our priority.”

As reported by Protestia, Ritchson filed for divorce from his wife in December of 2025, but announced it this past weekend. No reason for the split has been stated.

Both met as teenagers in Florida and were high school sweethearts before splitting up for a year, then reconnecting in college, US Magazine reported. They married in May 2006. Alan and Catherine have three children together, all boys.

Ritchson, in a social media post last year, praised his now-ex-wife and their family in a Mother’s Day tribute. In the post on Instagram, the “Reacher” said that his marriage and his family is and always will be the greatest privilege and success of my life.”

“@catritchson you are wisdom personified,” he added. “Strength incarnate. A tantalizing percolation of joy, adventure and love,” he added. “The boys and I are so beyond blessed to be able to journey with and for you. Happy Mother’s Day/19th Wedding anniversary momma. You deserve to be revered and celebrated forever and always.”

Ritchson has spoken openly on several occasions about his Christian faith. In a 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ritchson mentioned how his faith in Christ shapes the way he treats others.

"I'm a Christian quite simply because of what Jesus calls us to do," he said. "Love other people to death. It doesn't mean we're all to be hung on a cross, but how can I suffer for you? That is a beautiful thing."

Also, Ritchson, according to The Christian Post, mentioned that after going through an especially dark period in his life, he learned what it means to have an actual relationship with the Creator of the universe.

"My family was there for me, some doctors were there for me, and I got help and pulled through," he said. "But I had to find what meaning and purpose look like after that, and it looked like serving others and having a real relationship with God."
