“Not Since the 60s”

Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About

It was a scene not seen in this country since the Vietnam protests of the 1960s.

As the Georgia runoff election results rolled in and the Congress of the United States began the process of considering the certification of the individual state Electoral College counts, bedlam unfolded not just outside but inside our Capitol of the United States of America.

This breach of our Capitol building not only saddens me but also greatly disappointed me.

Protest and civil disobedience are important tools of freedom and democracy. I support those expressions in our country. But breaching the Capitol's security, tearing down the door of the House of Representatives, casts off images of a third world country.

We, as Americans, are better than some of what we witnessed yesterday.
