Ron DeSantis, a young and ambitious “Gen Xer,” stood before Florida’s historic old capitol Tuesday and took the governor’s oath of office.
A sense of change was in the air, even though Governor DeSantis had remained tight-lipped about his future agenda.
He will have a honeymoon period, especially among the Republican faithful. But older, establishment Republicans will soon get a taste of the changes this young Governor has in mind. And many will be surprised how some plans would modify Florida’s Republican Platform.
No doubt there will be pockets of resistance to the changes Governor DeSantis will bring forth, but we must keep an open mind in allowing him to present and explain his rationale before forming our opinions.
But there’s no doubt change is coming, you can bank on it.
