The Florida Legislature 2020 Session is officially underway today in Tallahassee. For the next 60 days, State Senators and Representatives will consider a myriad of proposals.

Tradition and protocol dominate opening day activities.

After opening remarks from each chamber’s leader, both chambers come together for a joint session to receive Governor’s Ron DeSantis State of the State address as well as his priorities.

Governor DeSantis, riding high on positive poll ratings, is supporting parental consent for an abortion, E verify legislation, pay raises for teachers, medical marijuana tweaking, reigning in renegade school districts regarding safety rules, and his 91.4 billion budget proposal.

And these topics are only the tip of the iceberg of proposals being filed.
