Florida is a top vacation destination for worldwide travelers, and Airbnb has profited well by that distinction.
In 2018 4.5 million people used Airbnb’s short tern room and house rentals in Florida, generating $810 million. 45,000 Floridians have host properties.
But that business is in jeopardy with Airbnb’s boycott of not listing properties in Israel’s West Bank.
Governor Ron DeSantis says the boycott targets Jews and violates Florida law that prohibits the state from doing business with companies that boycott Israel.
Sanctions against Airbnb could cost them dearly in Florida and tarnish their reputation worldwide.
It would be very wise for Airbnb to rethink their West Bank boycott, especially since Governor DeSantis first official visit outside the US will be to Israel this summer.
