Ever wonder how we got to be a debt-ridden nation, both personally and on a government level?
It’s because we stopped teaching kids the basic elements of living a financially successful life.
I wonder how many high school seniors could explain the power of compounding in savings or stock investing over a lifetime. How about how quick 20% plus credit card interest can put you in financial ruin overnight?
Probably not many.
Well, hopefully, the Florida legislature can change that ignorance by passing Senator Matt Hudson’s SB 114 and matching HB 73 by State Reps Elizabeth Ann Fetterhoff and Heather Fitzenhaven. If passed, the legislation would require financial literacy and money management skills to receive a high school diploma.
It’s a requirement I will wholeheartedly support.
