As America was laser-focused on Donald Trump's inauguration, another important annual event was recognized that was first instituted under the leadership of another great President, Ronald Reagan.
This past Sunday was the annual Human Life Sunday, remembered by churches and others across America. It was first instituted by presidential proclamation on January 17, 1988.
Reagan noted in his official proclamation, “One of those unalienable rights, as the Declaration of Independence affirms so eloquently, is the right to life.”
The battle over the Right to Life continues today, from the womb to the tomb.
Another annual event, the March for Life, will unfold Friday in Washington, DC. Thousands will gather to affirm that all lives have value and that life begins at conception.
Let’s keep unborn children in our thoughts and prayers this week.
Bill Bunkley is a 19-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities.
