Over two-plus decades I can’t tell you how many legislative hearings I’ve attended in Tallahassee.
Most hearings are routine and noncontroversial.
Some you never forget, like the one I just participated in.
HB 1429 is a bill by a courageous member of the Florida House, Erin Grall. It would eliminate a procedure used by abortion doctors in late-term abortions, painful to an unborn child.
Representative Grall read the gut wrenching step-by-step description of the procedure as submitted by a former abortion doctor in testimony before a Congressional hearing.
It would be inappropriate to repeat the doctor’s testimony here, but as overwhelming as it was to all who attended that hearing, legislators, and the public must always deal with the unvarnished truth no matter how difficult it is to receive.
In this instance, the unvarnished truth I will never forget.
