If you thought that November’s Florida Constitutional Amendment 3, Voter Control of Casino Gambling was the next big thing in state-sanctioned gambling, think again.

The Florida House Tourist & Gaming Control Subcommittee just released a proposed bill extending the Seminole Indian Tribe Gambling Compact 20 years, along with enhanced state payments.

The current language also prohibits any new Pari-mutuel locations. Pari-mutuels may not reduce their schedule of live events and are limited to traditional, pari-mutuel type poker games.

The bill clarifies that slot machines and slot machine licenses will not be authorized in pari-mutuel facilities outside of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, no new slot machine licenses will be issued after January 1, 2018.

Counties who passed local ordinances approving slot machines would lose their bet.   

Look for a lot of “lobbying up” on this bill big time.
