 “Return To Launch Pad 39-A”

Bill Bunkley With Something To Think About

It was a sight to see live on cable.

The event was a rocket launch at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Pad 39-A. That pad has not launched a heavy lift rocket capable of departing the earth’s gravitational pull since Apollo 17, 46 years ago.

A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket is now in route to Mars with a Telsa sports car payload.

As a child, I never missed a launch or moonwalk on TV of an Apollo mission with my parents. The nostalgia of the resurrection of Pad 39-A was over the top.

Add to that the surreal experience of watching the launch rockets fly back and land for reuse at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The prospects of SpaceX’s return to deep space travel to the moon, Mars, and space tourism from Florida is quite exciting.

I wish SpaceX much success moving forward.
