“Community: When A Desperate Call Goes Out for Help"
Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About
Every day we hear about a story of a senseless tragedy that has befallen a family somewhere in our midst. It usually doesn’t take much time for our focus to shift back to our day.
But that wasn’t the case Tuesday afternoon. It seems an entire community was paying attention to the breaking news.
While broadcasting my show, a call went out from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at 4:00 pm asking the public to help locate a one-year-old little girl just kidnapped in a parked Valrico car around 3 pm.
We quickly put out the Ambler Alert on-air, as did many media outlets. Around 5:00 pm, a citizen who somehow learned of the kidnapping identified the suspected vehicle, alerted officials, and the child was found safe in her car seat.
And that is what community is all about.
