Two bills in the Florida legislature put me at risk of continuing my on-air radio show here in Florida.

Two very harmful Republican-sponsored bills would stifle my free speech protections: HB 575 by Representative Andrade and SB 1780 by Senator Brodeur. Both open me up personally to baseless, harassing lawsuits by those opposed to my Christian and conservative worldviews.

Today, a U. S. Supreme Court Case in 1964, New York Times vs Sullivan, protects me and Salem Radio from unfounded defamation lawsuits.

If those protections are lost, I cannot afford to pay the huge cost of defending myself against baseless lawsuits.

If you like hearing me on this station, please stand with me in opposing HB 575 and SB 1780 by calling or emailing your local state senator and house member TODAY.

Ask them to vote NO on these harmful free speech bills.

Bill Bunkley is an 18-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 28 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
