“Proposed State Constitutional Amendment: Religious Expression in Public Schools”

The Florida Legislature is considering state constitutional amendment proposals for this year's November elections.
One such proposal, HJR 583 in the Florida House and SJR 1104 in the Florida Senate, if passed, would seal the protection of religious expression in public schools.
This Joint Resolution would amend the Florida Constitution to protect students, parents, and school personnel from discrimination based on their religious views.
Protection includes classwork, clothing, jewelry, prayer, religious activities at appropriate times, student clubs, student-initiated religious activities, and a moment of silence in first-period classrooms.
In today’s hostile anti-Semitic, anti-Christian climate, it is worthy to insert these protections in the state constitution.
