Sir Winston Churchill was famously quoted as saying, “Never give in, never, never, never, never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”

It’s apparent that Team USA Hockey got the memo.

Just like 46 years ago to the day, when Team USA’s Hockey Miracle on Ice in Lake Placid, NY, saw another underdog team beat the Soviet Union on home ice to bring home the Gold, underdog Team USA 2026 in Milan just orchestrated an encore performance again in dramatic fashion.

Add to the pride of being Americans was the class act of Team USA, honoring on ice their fallen teammate, Johnny Graudreau, killed by a drunk driver last August.

This is the model of how all Olympians should compete for their countries.

Bill Bunkley is a 20-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs on weekdays from 3 to 5 pm across central Florida. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities.
