“Florida Parental Rights Bill Denied A Vote”
Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About
In two consecutive meetings of the Florida Senate Rules Committee, SB 1634 Parental Rights was stonewalled by Senators opposing the right of moms and dads to be included in the medical and education decisions of their children.
Senators were heavily lobbied to oppose Parental Rights by LGBTQ advocates.
In the first committee meeting, the bill was temporarily postponed due to excessive questioning.
During the next Rules Committee meeting, after almost six hours hearing other bills, Parental Rights legislation was brought up at 5:40 PM, twenty minutes before adjournment at 6:00 PM. Opponents ran the clock out again with questions before a final vote could be taken.
That was the last scheduled meeting of the Rules Committee this session, killing the Parental Rights bill.
