“Why Not Talk About Banning Violent Video Games”
Bill Bunkley With Something To Think About.
As the gun debate dominates the final week of the 2018 Legislative Session, shouldn’t the talk of banning a certain type of gun come with a parallel discussion of banning certain types of video games?
In an article appearing in the Miami Herald, we now know that that the Parkland school shooter, according to a former neighbor and friend, played violent video games incessantly.
Paul Gold summed up the school shooter’s violent video game habits as “It was kill, kill, kill, blow up something, and kill some more, all day.” The shooter would play the violent video games up to 15 hours a day.
Violent video games should receive equal scrutiny as the gun debate. Hours of absorbing horrific, graphic, violent gaming content is what is desensitizing and teaching how to commit acts of unspeakable evil.
