“Gas Prices: Everyday Americans Doing Their War Effort”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”
Air Date Tuesday, March 10, 2026
Americans have a track record of supporting the United States of America during war.
During the American Revolution, money was raised for “loan office certificates”. During the Civil War, “Seven-thirties” bonds offered 7.30%. Liberty Bonds were sold during World War I. World War II launched Defense Bonds, which later morphed into U.S. Savings Bonds, which my parents bought for me while I was in elementary school.
Today, we find ourselves in a war on terrorism with Iran. And again, Americans are called to support the war effort.
The difference this time is that our support lies in sharply rising gas prices, which have increased by 0.61 cents in Florida over the last week.
Gas prices will come back down as the threat to oil shipments and supply subsides.
