I am pleased to report that HB 1213 has passed the Florida House of Representatives. It’s companion Senate Bill 1628 is ready to be considered in that chamber.

It is the “Never Again” Holocaust education bill.

It directs the Florida Department of Education to develop curriculum standards for the study in K-12 schools. It is not an elective study, but a mandatory study not only including the truth about the Holocaust but the problem of anti-Semitism in Florida and around the world.

Religious hate and persecution are not just Jewish issues. Christians in increasing numbers today have experienced it as well, though certainly not on the level of the Holocaust.

The next generations must not forget history. If they do, we already have seen that history can repeat itself.
