“Legislature Bans CRT Teaching & Orders Public-School Instructional Materials Public Meetings”
Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About
Two important but controversial directives saw final passage by the Florida Legislature concerning public school instruction.
HB 7 Bans Critical Race Theory teaching, CRT, in our public schools and business employee training. HB 1467 sets term limits for public school board members. It further requires that the state’s school districts conduct public meetings when deliberating the selection of instructional materials, including books that will line library shelves.
Both pieces of legislation now head to Governor DeSantis’ desk for approval, and he will sign both bills.
I support the passage of both bills.
The regular legislative session will wrap up Monday and not Friday due to a slight delay in final budget agreements.
The budget vote Monday will precede the completion of this year’s session.
