During the last election a number of proposed amendments to Florida’s Constitution were on the ballot, many of them citizen-initiated. Others were confusing containing unrelated subjects in a single amendment placed there by the State Revision Commission.
Too many of those issues passed that have NO place in our State Constitution.
Currently, it takes 60% plus one vote of those voting to pass a proposed amendment and get it placed in the state constitution.
Because of that Ocala Republican State Senator Dennis Baxley presents his proposed constitutional amendment to the Ethics & Elections Committee today, raising the percentage required to approve an amendment up to 66 2/3% from 60%.
