“Streets of San Francisco Banned in Florida”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About Commentary”
Air Date Monday, March 25, 2024
By now, you have seen with your own eyes the masses of homeless living, sleeping, and shooting up drugs out in the open on the streets of San Francisco.
In some places, you must sidestep or step over those who have passed out on the sidewalks.
But rest assured. The Florida Legislature and Governor De Santis have taken steps to ensure that the streets of San Francisco will not be coming to Florida.
The governor signed HB 1365 to prevent the homeless from living on our public streets. Each county will have to locate and regulate designated homeless areas off the streets where they can reside.
In designated areas, the homeless will receive mental health and drug addiction services. I hope faith-based ministries will develop strategies to also serve in these designated areas.
The homeless must not be ignored. They need our help.
