“Tampa Bay Rays Finally Begin Tampa Run”

Tampa Bay Ray’s fans in Tampa finally get their wish as regular season Major League Baseball games will be played at Steinbrenner Field, at least for now.

For years Tampa desired to host a major league baseball team going back to the early 1980’s when prominent businessman Frank Morsani led the Tampa effort, was allegedly promised the new franchise only to lose out to St. Pete.

Frank unsuccessfully sued MLB but because St. Pete built a ballpark without a team commitment, later to be named Tropicana field, Tampa lost out.

Now that the deal to build a new ballpark at the Tropicana Field site is dead for now, Tampa gets another shot at bringing the Rays to the area that makes the most sense location wise and marketability.

For now, let’s see how much fan base support turns out to be here in Tampa that could influence the permanent home for the Rays.
