U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee voted along party lines to approve the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch, leading to a vote of the full Senate by the end of the week.
Nine Democrats on the committee officially opposed the Gorsuch nomination and the “nuclear option” will probably be deployed.
But I still wonder why the Democrats are forcing the nuclear option on this nominee?
In Judge Gorsuch’s Judiciary testimony he suggested the Roe v. Wade abortion on demand case, and Obergefell v. Hodges same-sex marriage case was settled law, and he would not be interested in overturning either based on long-standing precedents.
That should have appeased Senate Democrats while sounding an alarm to Christian worldview and social conservatives.
News Flash: History tells us that Gorsuch’s statements may well come back to haunt both Democrats and especially socially conservative Republicans.
