Now that 24 hours has elapsed since the melt down, life is returning to the Lightning faithful.
That’s not to say that going from first to first round elimination isn’t humiliating. The Bolts had resounding regular season success, matching some of the league’s all-time best teams. They even took the President’s Cup.
But maybe all the late season accolades and success, in fact, took the edge off the Lightning skates. Coasting into the playoffs early didn’t produce the kind of aggressive play necessary to beat the hungry Blue Jackets.
Qualifying for a Wild Card slot at the very end of the season, Coach John Tortorella had his Columbus boys fired up for a hard hitting, aggressive game plan that in the end had their brooms in hand.
Congratulations to Coach Tort and his band of Blue Jackets.
