Israel conducted the retaliatory strike the world was waiting for.

Or was it?

In an extremely limited, brilliant, strategic, pinpoint strike, Israel sent an overnight message to Iran’s Ayatollahs: We can hit your nuclear development sites ANYTIME we choose to, in a MANNER of our choosing, and we can DEFEAT your Russian-supplied air defense systems.

Undoubtedly, the world was expecting something much bigger.

In my opinion, this was a diplomatic, choreographed, United States-approved, United States-notified, wink, wink, nod, nod operation.

Message sent, message received. Iran will not strike back as promised and risk losing it all.

I also suspect the quid-pro-quo Israel-American understanding also provides clearance for the Israelites to finish the job of eliminating Hamas in Rafah.

Next up? Hezbollah in Lebanon.
