 “Bad Things Happen To Good Bills”  

I’m Bill Bunkley with Something To Think About.

If everything stays on track between the Florida House and Florida Senate, the 2017 regular session of the legislature will end sometime on Friday.

For that to occur, the agreed upon budget by both House and Senate chambers must be completed and laid on the legislator's desks for 72 hours before a final vote is taken. Legislators are working to complete the budget by Wednesday so that they can vote for final passage sometime on Friday.

Billions of taxpayer dollars will be allocated by this process. Much is at stake; there will be plenty of winners and losers.

In the meantime, hundreds of proposed bills will also live or die. It’s a time when thousands of amendments, both good and bad, will be flying all around the chambers.

This is a week when bad things happen to good bills.
