Hurricane Michael territory in the Panhandle got a visit from President Trump.
Seven months after the now upgraded category 5 hurricane stormed the white sandy shores of Bay County, leveled Mexico Beach and devastated Tyndall AFB, President Trump arrived promising relief.
Unfortunately national politics have stood in the way of approximately $17 billion slated for Hurricane Michael recovery.
Trump promised $448 million was on the way from the Department of Housing and Urban Development and instead of closing Tyndale it would be rebuilt to host the F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lighting II fighter jets.
$448 million is not enough.
A seven month delay is a shameful travesty for the do nothing U. S. House.
Florida’s victims deserve the same quick federal assistance as provided in prior hurricanes.
