“Republicans in Tallahassee Failed to Launch a Budget”

The 2025 Regular Session of the Florida Legislature has not turned out as Republican legislators had planned.
Republicans in Tallahassee failed to launch their proposed annual fiscal year 2025-2026 state budget.
The feud between Governor Ron DeSantis and Speaker of the House Daniel Perez has seen the Florida House Republican leadership repeatedly buck the governor and oppose his priority initiatives for this session.
That not only delayed completing the state’s fiscal 2025-2026 budget but also complicated negotiations on numerous other issues.
Both chambers will return home for at least a week off, then must return to Tallahassee to iron out a budget and get the Governor’s approval by July 1st.
The failure to launch a budget is an unforced error in the Republicans' public relations performance perceptions.
They must right their ship ASAP.
