For those who are obsessed with accuracy, the official arrival of the Summer Solstice comes on June 21 at 12:24 A.M.

But if you were about and around this past Memorial Day weekend you know here in Florida that summer is unofficially under way.

For our family we undertook one of those one tank staycations, actually two tanks including our return leg, shadowing Florida’s Gulf coast from Bradenton Beach all the way down to Sanibel and Captiva Islands.

If you haven’t taken the trip, I’d highly recommend it this summer. Investigating our barrier islands including Gasparilla Island and Boca Grande is a real treat, especially knowing 113 million tourists spent big bucks to get here to see some of the same sights in 2016. 

Florida’s summer has indeed arrived with much to see and do for every sized budget.
