Well for those of us who work within the realm of Tallahassee politics we woke up to quite a surprise announcement Friday morning.
It seems that our three top political leaders have been doing a bit of “behind the scenes” chatting regarding the upcoming budget veto opportunities available to Governor Rick Scott; as well as completing an implementation plan for the Medical Marijuana amendment.
Starting on Wednesday legislators will return to Tallahassee for a 3-day special session to add another $210 million for education, fully fund Visit Florida to the tune of $75 million and $85 million for Enterprise Florida: specifically limited to job creation infrastructure, not direct payments to companies for moving here.
There was little doubt a “firefight” was on the horizon, but if this budget compromise holds, it will be all quiet on the Tallahassee front for Republicans.
