If you were 18 on June 6, 1944, today you would be 93.
And that is the age of many of the surviving Armed Forces members who took part in the Invasion of Normandy are who are celebrating this historic day both here and in Great Britain and France.
Portsmouth GB is the place they embarked from the night before the invasion. Imagine crossing the English Channel in darkness knowing the most difficult assignment that awaited them in the morning.
A band of heroes, every single one of them.
Fast forward 75 years later we can only marvel at what they accomplished that would ultimately lead to a Nazi defeat.
We have a deep gratitude to all, both those who have passed on, and those alive today, who preserved the freedom of the entire world.
This is a day we are all proud Americans regardless of politics.
