Today people are always ready to render you advice whether you requested it or not. Many are eager to tell you how to run your life.
But too often, advice may come with a motive from the advice giver.
At this point, you must be very careful to evaluate the character and life experiences of the advice giver. For example, are they giving you advice based on their past hardships? Are they giving advice that’s best for you?
Since I am a person who makes decisions from a Christian worldview, it is important to seek advice from one who demonstrates they too are committed to Christian principles and will always point me to the Word of God for my definitive advice.
Above all else, take heed of Proverbs 12:15 “The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.

Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities. He has served as legislative consultant to the Convention for the last 24 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee.
