A Sunday church service is in progress. During the service the pastor is called aside and informed the President of the United States is on his way to the church and is requesting prayer from the church.
How is the pastor to respond?
Yes, come on as we will pray for you, a man who has authority over us; or no, don’t come as praying would send the wrong image, wrong message, and would be offensive to those who do not support you.
Remember the President did not ask to speak, but to be prayed for.
That happened to Washington, D.C.’s McLean Baptist Church’s Senior Pastor David Platt last week. And now he’s a pastor in the middle of a controversy between supporters and detractors for his President prayer.
Pray for David as he made the right decision. If you disagree, look up 1 Timothy 2:1-2.
