“Atlanta Blue’s Sick Out”
Bill Bunkley with Something to Think About
It was probably only a matter of time until a law enforcement agency would react in a significant way to the national crises concerning policing.
Under increased stress, we’ve witnessed smaller incidents of local cops either retiring from the force or requesting a transfer off swat teams.
Atlanta experienced a massive sick-out of their police department Wednesday after eleven charges, including murder, were lodged against fellow ex-officer Garrett Rolfe in the death of Rashard Brooks.
Other reports indicated that the Atlanta cops who reported for duty were not responding to calls for service, thus creating a significant backlog of unanswered requests.
Imagine calling for help, and nobody comes for hours.
Maybe that’s just the point many on the Atlanta PD were trying to make.
