Once again, controversy is building over the actions of the U. S. Supreme Court. Or should I say a building controversy over its Chief Justice John Roberts?
I’ve come to conclude that he has applied for the wrong job.
His current job is to call the balls and strikes of the constitutionality of cases that come before him, not to write new laws from the bench.
Writing laws is the job of the legislative branch, not the judicial branch.
With the long list of Roberts’s cases he has decided by inserting his personal opinions, he should have applied for a job with “the people” to serve as a lawmaker in Congress.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton also voiced his opinion that Roberts should resign from the court and run for office.
I agree, but of course that isn’t going to happen.
Bill Bunkley is a 14-year veteran Salem Radio Network talk show host based in west-central Florida, airing weekdays 3 to 6 PM. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities. He has served as legislative consultant to the Convention for the last 24 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee.
