The ongoing saga of non-cooperation and petty turf protection by St Pete officials may cost us Ray’s Baseball in Tampa.

It is just plain obvious that Tropicana Field isn’t drawing the crowds, even with a Ray’s winning record against two of MLB’s historic and perennial teams: the Yankees and Red Sox.

The center of our regional population is not downtown St. Pete.

I agree with Hillsborough Commissioner Ken Hagan -  it’s past time for all barriers and restrictions to come down; an all hands on deck effort to keep this team here in a location that can draw fans and make business sense.

It's a heavy lift, especially in the financing of a new stadium without government tax dollars, which I support, but all other obstacles must go.

If not, we may be back to enjoying Spring Training game's only.
