The economy is measured by the Gross Domestic Product, commonly known as GDP. From the first quarter of 2019 to the first quarter of 2024, the national GDP rate was 11.9%.
During that same period, under Governor Ron DeSantis's watch, Florida's GDP nearly doubled the national rate, coming in at 21.9%. The state's annual GDP is close to 1.3 trillion.
Florida's economy is strong not only by national standards but also when compared to other countries around the globe.
Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly remarked, "Florida is the most friendly state and the best place for families to live, work, and thrive."
And that is the secret sauce that keeps us the "Free State of Florida."
Bill Bunkley is an 18-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm.
