It is a very special week in Tampa. The annual Warrior Games is here courtesy of The Department of Defense and local host U. S. Special Operations Command.
Over 300 sick and wounded participants are members of our Armed Forces and other allied nations. “The goal of the games is to prove that by overcoming significant injuries and illnesses, these athletes prove that life can continue after becoming wounded or injuries,” according to miliratybenefits.com.
They compete in “adaptive games” including golf, archery, track and field, powerlifting, cycling, indoor roaring, basketball, tennis and rugby wheelchair events, shooting, swimming and sitting volleyball.
Our own combat wounded Vietnam Veteran Captain Matt Bruce of The Captain’s America Third Watch is serving as MC at many of the events.
