Police are being ambushed in Tampa. In two separate incidents, our officers responded to calls only to be attacked.
In one incident, two officers were attempting to locate a shooting victim. A mob was waiting on them and attacked the officers. Both suffered head injuries and were transported to the hospital.
Another incident occurred when a 7-Eleven store called for assistance over an alleged thief, which resulted in the responding officer fighting to keep his service gun from being forcefully taken.
Police Chief Brian Dugan reports these incidents are increasing. Tensions are high on the streets. His officers feel nobody has their back right now.
It’s hard to imagine a time when our law enforcement officers have been at a higher risk.
They need to know we have their back.
