Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister held a press conference announcing an arrest in the car shooting death of a 14 year old girl at a Brandon intersection.
Arrested was a certified Town & Country gang member with the “TC Boys,” Derrick Rivera.
Apparently Rivera had issues with a male occupant in the car and both parties had just left a Valrico house party. The 14 year old girl was not Rivera’s intended target.
My son turns 14 in December. I can’t imagine him at this age riding around at night with older peers going to house parties with or without our permission. His “helicopter parents” would not condone or encourage that sort of entertainment.
This tragedy is a wakeup call for all parents.
It’s a dangerous world out there, know where your kids are and who they are hanging with.
