“The Fight for Personal Freedom is Never Over”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About Commentary”
Air Date Thursday, July 4, 2024
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”
With these closing words from the Declaration of Independence, 56 patriots put it all on the line for freedom as they understood it from the Holy Bible.
They were lawyers, a doctor, a surgeon, ministers of the Gospel of Jesus, farmers, sheriffs, printer, publisher, scientist, surveyor, judges, tax collector, customs collector, mercantile owner, carpenter, architect, author, inventor, shipowner, plantation owner, poet and college president.
The fight for personal freedom is never over.
Benjamin Franklin remarked that Congress gave us a grand republic with this caveat: “If we can keep it.”
Let’s be vigilant and keep it at all costs!
Happy Independence Day.
