Look around at the culture surrounding us, and see many examples of a lost, self-centered, narcissistic society. One can track the beginning of the trend back when the Bible, the 10 Commandments, and prayer got removed from the public school classroom.
Morality on many levels within our society has taken a tragic nose dive.
Respect is a concept that seems foreign to many. Years ago, mutual respect for others was the norm. Today it is almost nonexistent in many interpersonal encounters with strangers.
Our quality of life has suffered for its lack.
We have forgotten the wisdom of the Bible’s book of Matthew, which states, “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also for them….”
Many wish to do away with our nation’s moral roots.
They’re wrong.
We must reclaim them.
Bill Bunkley is a 15-year veteran Salem Radio talk show host based in west-central /Florida, airing weekdays 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Churches throughout Florida), among other churches and entities. He has served as legislative consultant to the Convention for the last 24 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee.
