If you are one of our repeat speeding offenders, beware: Smokey the Bear may be turning his radar gun on you.
“Operation Southern Slow Down’ is looking for you.
Given that, since COVID, traffic enforcement on our highways around the state has been minimal at best, it's clear that only a tiny minority of drivers drive at or just below the posted speed limit.
Be forewarned. Law enforcement officers from around the state are participating in “Operation Southern Slow Down,” resulting in 7000 speeding tickets. Also, as part of the crackdown, multiple arrests of “super speeders” exceeding 100 mph have been executed, along with 87 DUI Arrests.
In a throwback to the CB radio days, beware of the Smokey the Bear traps that are popping up all over the state.
