Employment is a major aspect of live for Americans. Many spend more time at work during the week than at home.

How you approach your work and work ethic while on the job has a great deal to say about your character and integrity.

Is giving your employer a full day’s work, which means not spending hours on your cellphone while on the clock, central to your work ethic?

Here are a few tips on being a valued, focused employee:

Arrive at work on time or a few minutes early, practice time management and prioritize the day’s tasks before you, avoid procrastination when given a new assignment, be respectful and utilize clear communication with fellow employees, and above all be trustworthy and honest.

For Christians the Bible instructs them to do their work as unto the Lord, with all excellence.

Don’t do just do minimal work to get by.

Be an overachiever.

Bill Bunkley is a 19-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays from 3 to 6 pm across central Florida. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities.
