In a stunning announcement, Florida Attorney General James Uthmier said Operation Statewide Shield has recovered 163 endangered children. The children recovered were between 2 months and 17 years of age.
Child predators are stalking our state.
A multidisciplinary task force recovered 46 children in Tampa, 41 in Miami, 32 in Jacksonville, 21 in Orlando, 12 in Fort Myers, 8 in Pensacola and 3 in Tallahassee.
Children were rescued across 6 states and Puerto Rico. Countries seeing recovered children include Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dominica, Finland, Ghana, Guatemala, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Spain and Taiwan.
The operation was the first statewide child recovery of its kind.
What’s most disturbing is that these numbers are probably only the tip of the iceberg of endangered children.
