When I see our Veterans getting some extra care and consideration it must be noted. The initiative by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office intervening when a Vet has run afoul of the law, it is the right thing to do.
Now Hillsborough is not the first to step forward, as Pasco has their initiative that began in 2014.
In Hillsborough, an arrested Vet will be housed in a special area where the flags of our various Armed Forces Services are proudly displayed overhead. There veterans will receive mental health assistance, career development training and an environment encouraging personal pride for their service and a sense of starting over.
Add to that Hillsborough’s special veterans court and we all can be proud of these combined efforts to get these individuals back on track.
