One of the most positive qualities one can attribute to a person is that they are known for being an active encourager of others.
Few things motivate a person more than being built up by someone they highly respect. It boosts their confidence and fuels their desire to achieve further success.
Encouragers will initiate contact with someone by offering a heartfelt hello while maintaining solid eye contact, speak a positive compliment, be a good listener, and empathize with them when appropriate. Most of all, they express their belief in them.
The Bible reminds Christians in 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “to encourage one another and build another one up.”
Another quote by Booker T. Washington had some wise words when he said, “If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.
Being an encourager of others is a win-win for both you and the one being encouraged.
Bill Bunkley is a 19-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays from 3 to 6 pm across central Florida. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission and the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 29 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year.
