“A Failure is Not Final”
Bill Bunkley’s “This Is Something to Think About”
Air Date Thursday, August 28, 2025
Advances and setbacks are events that define life. How we handle life’s events is a matter of perspective.
Advances are readily accepted; failure can destroy us if we let it.
Those who have achieved the most have experienced the most failures. But they learned to overcome failures. They know you can’t avoid failures.
Walt Disney’s life story is a valuable lesson on failure. Walt had setbacks: his first studio went bankrupt, and he lost the rights to a successful character. Although the films Snow White, Pinocchio, and Fantasia were all successful, the Movie Bambi lost a lot of money. Three hundred banks turned him down for financing to build Disneyland. He had a nervous breakdown after creating Mickey Mouse.
Though he didn’t live to see Disney World’s opening, his legacy is that failure never defeated him.
Failure is never final; it’s just an event.
