Hurricane Idalia left her mark on many Floridians. For those most adversely affected by the cyclone, it will be quite some time, if ever, before they recover.

The adversity brought about by Idalia can break us or make us better.

Life’s challenges come and go. 

All can rejoice that massive loss of life is not a part of Idalia’s story because of modern hurricane forecasting technology, warnings, and preparation. 

Material things can be replaced. Loss of life can’t.

In times like these, God uses life’s setbacks for a time of self-reflection, a recalibration of our priorities. Often, He is calling us back to a closer relationship with Him. Temporary helplessness can sometimes help us to reprioritize the important things in life.

Don’t miss this opportunity. It is a time like this that may change your eternal destiny. 

Bill Bunkley is a 17-year veteran Salem Media talk show host based in Tampa. The Bill Bunkley Show airs weekdays across central Florida from 3 to 6 pm. Bill is also President of the Florida Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, which serves as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention (Southern Baptist Convention Churches), among other churches and entities. He has served as the legislative consultant to the Florida Baptist State Convention for the last 27 years at the state capitol in Tallahassee. By the Grace of his Lord Jesus, he is today a cancer survivor diagnosed in 2018 with AML Leukemia, having successfully undergone a bone marrow transplant that same year. His wife is Toni, son is Zac, and they attend Idlewild Baptist Church.
