Air Date Monday, September 2, 2024
Today, we celebrate Labor Day.
It marks one of the oldest rites of passage as we salute the heartbeat of our nation, the American worker.
This weekend also marks the unofficial end of summer, a time for us to adjust to our routines.
What’s so special about Labor Day?
It recognizes our early agricultural workers who grew and exported cotton and tobacco, those who worked on Henry Ford’s revolutionizing assembly line, the fuel for the industrial revolution. We remember the women who built World War II airplanes, jeeps, and tanks on long production lines.
Today, we pay tribute to those who work in the service industry. Their contributions are not just significant but indispensable to America’s economic strength.
We give thanks to our past and present workers.
These dedicated specialists are indeed the heartbeat of America.
